At the September 26th 2023 Board of Education meeting it was announced that the Board has accepted a resignation from Dee Beattie and there will be a by-election for the vacant trustee position.
DPAC executive member Kathleen Carlsen has resigned from DPAC as of September 26th so that she may run as a candidate in the by-election:
To The Executive of SD40 DPAC,
I am sending this to a wonderful group with a bit of sadness but also with much excitement for the future.
Effective immediately, I am stepping down from my position SD40 DPAC Secretary. I am confident there are other involved parents who will fill this gap and continue on with the important work and advocacy this great team is doing.
As you may have already heard, I had put my name in to be considered for a School Trustee Candidate with the New West Progressives in anticipation that Ms Beattie would eventually do the right thing and resign as Trustee. I am pleased to say the NWP accepted my candidacy tonight and I will officially run once a by-election is called now that Ms Beattie has resigned. Respecting the C&B of SD40 DPAC, this resignation takes effect now.
I will continue to attend DPAC meetings, volunteer and give feedback and support wherever I can – as an involved parent.
I am so proud of this mighty team and the leadership of SD40 DPAC and wish you all a very successful year ahead. Keep up the good work – our kids and families need you!
Sincerely,
Kathleen Carlsen
