The Shakespeare Playground™ featuring The Taming of the Shrew

“To beguile the old folks, how the young folks lay their heads together!”

Calling all clowns and makers of mischief! Come explore Shakespeare’s hilarious comedy featuring two squabbling sisters and the bumbling bunch of buffoons who compete to marry them. A week with storytelling, improv, theatre games, music, stage combat, movement, costumes, and props culminates in a hilarious performance for friends and family. No previous experience necessary. Come dressed to move. Optional field trip to see Alchemy Theatre’s THE TAMING OF THE SHREW and meet the actors—all in New West!

Zine Making Workshop

This workshop for kids explores zine-making and its burgeoning culture. We will create one-off publications introducing various elemetns of art and design, drawing inspiration from our stunning location overlooking the Fraser River and city life in the summer.

Drawing & Cartooning Summer Camp

Are you interested in comics, cartoons, graphic novels, or do you just like to draw? Students of any ability will learn to develop their narrative and graphic abilities through the use of dip pens, brush and ink, acrylic pain, scratchboard and more! Projects can include: trading cards, comic anthologies, animation flip-books and dozens of other activities developed through the surprisingly complex language of cartooning. On Friday, invite your family to our finale showcasing all the fabulous work you and your friends have created during your week at camp.

Imagination Vacation Summer Camp

Come along on this imagination fueled vacation where you can discover and explore a variety of art mediums, materials and techniques, learn lots of new skills, meet some fabulous friends and create absolutely awesome art. You’ll make prints from found objects and natural materials, crate a fabric flag, design and construct a sculpture using stuff from the recycling bin and turn one of your old t-shirts into a new expression of you. On Friday, invite your family to our finale showcasing all of the fabulous work you and your friends have created during your week at camp.

Artist Focus Summer Camp

Our instructor will review the life and work of a different famous artist each day, creating an environment that encourages the love of learning, creativity, and fun. Kids will be exposed to age appropriate art history while working in a variety of mediums, taking inspiration from the works of famous artists.
